Anne Nagel is the Assistant to the Graduate Chair in English, teaches English 893, and has experience teaching undergraduate writing and literature courses from the 100 to the 300 level. She holds a Ph.D. in English, with a specialization in literary and cultural studies, from UNL. She was the 2019 speaker for the Big Ten Emerging Scholars lecture series, received the Robert L. Hough Lecturer Teaching Award in 2019, and served as EGSA president in 2016. She wrote and edited for the Watershed Critical Theory Blog and worked on the George Eliot Archive and the Central Online Victorian Educator.
Anne's dissertation explores the potential for affective intensity in dreams, dreamlike spaces, and sleep disorders in Romantic and Victorian novels and poetry. In addition to her Ph.D., she holds an M.A. in English literature and a Certificate in Interdisciplinary Nineteenth Century Studies. Her undergraduate degrees include majors in English, philosophy, and secondary education, with a minor in French.
