Kathleen 'Kat' Dillon (they/she) is a Ph.D. Candidate in English: Composition & Rhetoric whose dissertation and associated classroom study focuses on how pedagogical practices inspired by Slow Pedagogy and Participatory Action Research, which center collaboration and co-creation, can support student well-being and writing.
During their time at UNL, Kat has served as the Writing Specialist for the TRIO Student Support Services program and as the Assistant Director for both the Writing Center and Composition program. Kathleen has also volunteered their time as the Co-Director of the Writing Lincoln Initiative, as a Steering Committee member of the graduate student worker union (Unionize UNL), and as the graduate student advisor for Spectrum, UNL's LGBTQIA+ club.
Before coming to UNL, Kat worked for five years as an Academic Advisor and eventually Assistant Director for the TRIO Student Support Services program at Loyola University Chicago, where they previously received a Master’s in English, on the ‘teaching track’. Kat also earned a Bachelor’s in English, with a minor in Politics & Government, from North Park University in Chicago.
