Richard Ayertey Lawer is a Ph.D. student in English, specializing in Composition and Rhetoric, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He holds an M.A. in English (Composition and Rhetoric) from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, an M.Phil. in Linguistics and a B.A. in Linguistics and Information Studies from the University of Ghana, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba. At UNL, he serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for ENGL 151: Writing for Change and as a consultant at the UNL Writing Center.

His research interests include multilingual writing, translingualism, writing center studies, second-language writing, language and literacy education, and the intersections of language, identity, and culture. Drawing on his background in linguistics, composition and rhetoric, and language education, his work explores how writing pedagogy and writing centers can support multilingual writers and create more inclusive spaces for diverse linguistic and rhetorical practices.
