Timothy J. Cook is a Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Before graduating from UNL with a Ph.D. in English (Literary and Cultural Studies), Cook spent his graduate years studying the modernist and epic poetic traditions as well as the contact points within these intertwining fields. In addition to writing and thinking about poets ranging from Dante and Elias Lönnrot to Hilda Doolittle and Charles Olson during this period, Cook had the great fortune of spending the 2017-18 academic year as a visiting doctoral student at the University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu, immersed in Finnish culture and their epic Kalevala. Now, while lecturing at UNL, Cook is also working to develop his dissertation work that considers H. D.’s critical place within the modernist tradition. Previously, Cook earned a master’s degree in English (Literature), from the University of Montana, Missoula, where he assisted in the founding of Cedilla, a small literary journal that published its first issue in 2007.
